LESSONS AGREEMENT FORM
Hi there! Thank you so much for choosing to take the next step in your journey as a musician with Robinson Massey (me)! I’m very excited to get to partner with you to better develop your proficiency on your instrument as well as your musical instinct and understanding. The purpose of this document is to establish an understanding of some smaller details included in what to expect as we move forward together.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:
MASTERY: On a more micro/individual level, my goal is to not only help you develop and refine your technique and mechanics on your instrument, but also provide you with a functioning understanding of music theory and harmony by studying scales, modes, arpeggios, tonal relationships, etc. In other words, we’ll be expanding your chord and scale vocabulary; not only by learning how to play said scales and chords, but also by understanding how they relate to each other.
ARTISTRY: On a more macro/collaborative level, we will also be working to develop your taste and instinct as a musician, studying elements of musicality such as what choices make the most sense in terms of dynamics and register when interpreting how to play a certain song or style (just one example of many things we’ll go over together).
SCHEDULING:
Everyone’s life and schedule is different, so I do my best to offer options that fit anyone/everyone’s unique situations, whether that looks like weekly or bi-weekly 30 minute or 1 hour lessons. We can work together to find a time that fits our schedules best, whether that’s in person or via Zoom!
During any given week, a cancellation made by the student/parent less than 48 hours in advance will not be allotted a refund or makeup lesson. If the cancellation occurs 48 or more hours in advance, we can arrange for some type of alternative solution (such as a 1hr lesson at another time, two 30 minute lessons in one week, or an offset of fees so that you won’t be charged for the lesson you missed).
If a cancellation is made by the instructor, we can work together to find a makeup solution as before mentioned. There will be no loss to the student/parents.
I understand that of course emergencies happen, and we’re all human, so I’m more than happy to work with you to make life less stressful when situations arise, provided we all continue to treat each other like decent and reasonable human beings!
MATERIALS AND FEES:
Weekly lesson rates start at $40 per 30 minute lesson and are expected to be paid in full at the beginning of each month. We can work together to figure out what type of payment plan makes the most sense for your situation. Payments will be accepted through Venmo, Paypal, Zelle, Cash, and Check.
If you are looking to purchase an instrument or piece of equipment, I am happy to partner with you on finding the best options for you! Alternatively, I have instruments and gear such as pedals, cables, interfaces, etc. that are available for rent. If that is something that appeals to you, we can definitely connect and look into that together!
While there are several fantastic educational pieces of literature that exist and a few that I can recommend to you, we won’t need any required textbooks or paid material to progress in our lessons together. As we identify more specific goals for your context, I can recommend some supplemental material that may be valuable for you to purchase.
That’s all! Thanks for going through this page so we can ensure a better understanding of what our journey together will be like. Go ahead and fill out the form below to confirm that you understand/agree to all that is outlined above. See you soon!
